million. some analysts predicted the president will win the electoral college and mitt romney will win the popular vote. at one point donald trump thought that was the case. . demographics played a huge role. the president received 90% of the african american vote. and 75% of the hispanic vote. jews, asians and white women also gave their support. that made a difference in virginia, florida, colorado and nevada. >> the numbers don't lie. the demographics are changing. they are more and more latinos, asians and republicans are not clicking with those groups. >> mitt romney won more votes from white men, conservatives and older voters. some say the republican party

so what? the penalty phase begins tomorrow to determine if he should be sent to death row. a judge dismissed a murder charge against a man accused of gunning down david lewis. he said police violated his fifth amendment rights and ignored his request for a lawyer. he faced the possibility of life in prison without parole. police are looking for two men who tried to kidnap a 14- year-old girl. it happened monday afternoon. police say a man grabbed the girl and then tried to drag her to a red truck parked nearby. fortunately the girl escaped. >> she did the right thing. she started to fight and struggle and she was able to break free. >> police are working on a

sketch of the suspects. crime stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest. two refineries are back in operation today. filings with health officials say shell restarted a unit that was shut down for two months and they also restarted, they have been offline for repairs. chevron also plans to restart a processing unit next year. that unit was knocked offline by that fire in august. a major earthquake struck off the coast of guatemala today killing 39 people. 7.4 earthquake. there are reports of building shaking. the president says the country is on its highest level of disaster alert and he is asking

voters rejected measure n, the tax on sodas. it would have imposed a tax on sugary drinks. if it passed richmond would have been the first in the country to use that kind of tax. measure q was also defeated, the temporary tax for the fire district. it fell short of the 2/3 it needed to pass. officials had warned that if the measure didn't pass 10 stations might have to be closed and a third of the firefighters might have to be layed off. shooting range will remain

through january 21. a truck slammed into a san francisco bar this afternoon. san francisco police say the breaks went out on the truck and as you can see it drove into the side of the bar. the driver was taken to the hospital but at this point we don't know his injuries. that location has been a bar since 1907. protesters and police clashed in athens, greece. that came just before voters voted on new measures. protesters are angry about cuts. some threw explosives at police. leaders demanded the measures in exchange for a bail out. without the bail out money they could default on their debt. coming up, we talked to the
